Newly Established StudentBridge Media Cultivates Digital Community for Teens by Teens

ATLANTA, GA, November 11, 2020 -- Founded in 1989, TeenInk is the leading publication for teens that was created to give teens a safe place to share their thoughts and ideas with other teens. The original founders, John and Stephanie Meyer of Newton, MA, said they founded TeenInk because they believed teenagers had important things to say but few places to express their views on issues that really matter.

At its peak, TeenInk reached over 12M readers a year and boasted 1M active users on teenink.com. TeenInk increased readership to over 100K a month with 200K newsletter subscribers and 24K print subscribers, predominantly high schools and libraries. Jonathan Clues, Founder and CEO of StudentBridge, recognized the immense potential of cultivating this audience and completed a purchase of teenink.com and the magazine in October 2020.

“While there are many channels for teens to share entertaining photos and videos such as Snapchat and TikTok,” said Clues, “TeenInk is the only destination for teens to share meaningful and thought-provoking content. Leveraging our 20 years of digital media experience, we are dedicated to creating and growing a digital community where teens have a credible voice.”

Students aged 13-19 from across the country are invited to submit articles, writings, poetry, opinion pieces, reviews, photographs and videos for publication on the TeenInk website. Of the 5,000 submissions received each month, the best are selected for publication in the magazine giving students an opportunity to be recognized and celebrated as published authors.

“No other year has driven the absolute need to embrace digital transformation like 2020,” continued Clues, “We’ve seen five years of progress and adoption in the education space within the span of one month. The education industry in particular, which heavily utilizes a century-old, in-person recruitment strategy, was shut down overnight. StudentBridge’s technology has long been well-positioned to convert a school’s existing web traffic, but we have never helped drive traffic. That is about to change.”
